The Extreme Auto Expo has been one of the biggest car show yet. Formally known as Extreme Horsepower Show, the newly branded Extreme Auto Expo is the Adelaide’s round of the Meguiar’s Super Stars, a National competition which attracts the best modified vehicles from all over Australia.

The Glen Jenning’s Batmobile was the star in this year’s show and is a technically correct replica of the 1966 built Batmobile for the 1966 TV series & autographed by Adam West (batman) and Lee Meriwether (catwoman). Body – built by Gotham Cruisers and is a first generation correct moulding and built on a 1976 Lincoln frame.

Apart from the show cars, the Zippel Cruise also rocked up to the show on Saturday afternoon with a total of over 400 cars! Only American muscle cars are on sight, which brought to the showground an American atmosphere like no other.

Visit Extreme Auto Expo for more information. Video will be coming soon.

Official 2011 Gazzanats Video

Posted on by edgarchieng in Events, Videography | Leave a comment

This is my official video of the 2011 Gazzanats event. The annual Gazzanats event is held at Adelaide International Raceway, and is open for all participants from around the country for the burnout event (which is the biggest part of the whole event). A big part of Gazzanat is played by Gary Myers, who is the Burnout Champion of the World, who holds multiple world records for Burnout competition.

The whole event is about revheads and people who are mad about cars, especially American and V8 muscle cars in general. I was able to get up close throughout the entire burnout events and this is a seriously dangerous motorsport, but a very entertaining one. This is the second year I have been to Gazzanats, and if I get the chance again in the future, I would definitely keep going every year.

This was shot on the Sony NX70, the slow-motion part was shot using the slow-motion mode with a 200 frames per second burst mode for 3-sec, however, after processing, the final length is approx. 12 sec at 25 frames per second. The video is edited in Final Cut Pro, graded with Magic Bullet Looks.

Port Adelaide Cars Meet-Up

A planned open-invitation for car enthusiasts was organised at the Old Hart’s Mill in Port Adelaide, South Australia. This was not a car club meetup, or a car-show event. It is just purely a group of friends getting together and taking photos of their cars.

I was invited to the meet-up and got to film these really nice cars.

Nissan R34 Skylines

This a personal project car for both Fariz and Norman and it’s an R34 GT-R (blue) and the R34 GT-T (black). These are two very powerful Japanese cars and still is quite an automotive engineering piece especially the 4WD drivetrain on the GT-R. The shots was taken at Port Adelaide industrial area, which was a perfect settings for this two fine machine.

All Japan Day 2011

Posted on by edgarchieng in Events, Projects, Videography | Leave a comment

All Japan Day, held annually in Adelaide was born from a crisis developing in the import motor enthusiast community. Local car shows involving Japanese imports were losing focus on what the enthusiast wants at a car show – a opportunity to admire and and talk about the sensational vehicles on display with out being distracted by gimmicks or high prices.

The Extreme Horsepower Show is South Australia’s Ultimate Automotive Expo all under cover and in the one location. There were heaps of trade sites full of the latest gear car enthusiasts. Featuring Hot Rods, Street Machines, Customs, Hi Tech Japanese Imports, Motorcycles, Drift, Race and Drag cars, if it’s modified it’s there!

One of the hottest show car has to be the Queen Street Racing Million Dollar Drag, a BMW E46 M3 CLS drag car by the Ibrahim brothers with almost every components of the car covered in gold. Also on the show is another car by brothers featuring a Pearl White Ferrari 360 Modena Spyder with custom twin-turbos setup.

Gazzanats 2010

Posted on by edgarchieng in Events, Photography, Videography | Leave a comment

This was my first experience with Gazzanats and I pay my respect for the sponsors and organisers who kept this trully well and alive. This kind of event is becoming smaller and lesser around the world due to lack of sponsorships and the level of interest, but what Sprint Auto and Gary Meyers have done is to keep them rolling.

Autosalon 2010

Posted on by edgarchieng in Events, Photography, Videography | Leave a comment

Autosalon car show has slowed down dramatically over the years. This is partly due to the fact that the car modifying scenes have slowed as costs for labour and parts are on the increase. Many young people now are buying brand new cars instead of imports due to the more affordable pricing as well as being more fuel efficient.

However, the show is not quite dead yet, but what I did notice though, especially in this show is that these imports are wearing some pretty fancy branded accessories. Gone are the bling bling locally made wheels, and in come the Japanese imported brands like Volks, Works, and many more. These cars also have a much “cleaner” look with no ugly airbrush paint jobs and over killing bodykits.

Crowd numbers have also shrunk but I was there for a good 6 hours to take photos and video and they are now available here.
