The Clipsal 500 has come and put the V8 Supercars race in Adelaide in the spotlight again. This year saw the introduction of new teams and new manufacturers in the line up, Nissan and Mercedes AMG Erebus. Although the Top 10 spots in the first race of the V8 Supercars race calendar was taken by both Holden and Ford, Nissan was not far off, while the Erebus AMG Mercedes were at the bottom of the list due to a string of vehicle issues which will hopefully be sorted for the rest of the season.
The Erebus AMG Mercedes only inked the deal months before the race started, so proper development time was limited but for the teams to bring 3 race E63 AMG Mercedes to the grid is fantastic and the sound of that V8 race engines built by AMG in Germany is nothing short of amazing and spectacular, it sounded like an angry F1 engine.
The Australian GT Championship race is also my other favourite in the series, the line up varies from Mercedes AMG SLS, Lamborghini Gallardo, Ferrari 458, Porsche, to Aston Martin. It’s so exciting to see these exotic supercars racing neck to neck and the difference in engine noise is music to the ears.
